The CUPRA lane has operated since 13 May 2026. It opens only when traffic management activates it and the pass road is driveable. It lets drivers reach Airolo or the pass without using the cantonal road as a queue bypass. It is not a fast lane into the tunnel: once you take the exit, you cannot rejoin the motorway. Always follow the illuminated signs and local road signs.
Main alternative if the CUPRA works cause unexpected delays. Usually clear.
