What do the Gotthard webcams show?
North Portal — Göschenen
The north portal webcam at Göschenen covers the A2 roadway immediately in front of the tunnel entrance on the Swiss side. During peak hours on Friday evenings (15:00–19:00) and Saturday mornings (07:00–11:00), the queue of vehicles heading south towards Ticino and Italy is clearly visible. The camera also shows local weather — fog, snow and rain affect visibility and traffic light regulation at the portal.
South Portal — Airolo
The south portal webcam at Airolo shows the tunnel exit towards Ticino and the A2 junction area. During return periods (Sunday 15:00–19:00, holiday Mondays), the northbound queue towards Göschenen is clearly visible. In summer, the camera vividly shows the end-of-holiday peaks — especially during the last August weekends when Swiss and German holidaymakers return home.
