Closure information

Night closures are planned by FEDRO (Federal Roads Office). During closures, traffic is diverted via San Bernardino. The Gotthard Pass is passable at night only if open.

Recommended alternative routes

San Bernardino (A13)+25 min

Official diversion during night closures. The San Bernardino tunnel is open all night.

Official diversions

The night diversion is binary: when the tunnel is closed, the A13 San Bernardino is the only available motorway route. There is no queue threshold — closure is scheduled independently of traffic volume. If the Gotthard Pass is open and no night ban applies, it is also available as a scenic alternative.

Tunnel closed (scheduled closure)

A13 San Bernardino mandatory — official ASTRA diversion

Gotthard Pass open and no night ban in force

Scenic alternative available via pass road (light vehicles only)
