After opening, the pass attracts motorcyclists and tourists, especially in good weather. FEDRO expects the pass to ease pressure on the A2 corridor during Ascension and Pentecost.

Official diversions

The open pass can ease pressure on the A2 tunnel. At the north portal, the seasonal extended Göschenen exit is in operation; since 13 May 2026, the Airolo/Passes CUPRA lane is available when activated by VMZ.
